Let's just dive right in. I have kids and I have animals. The kids haven't been nearly as bad as the animals. We've lived in our house now for 4 years and we've always had a minimum of 3 cats in that time. Well that number has increased...big time.

After losing my 8 year old kitty, Tigger I decided to start fostering. All within a year I've fostered over 10 cats and 2 dogs.

Needless to say, our carpets are DESTROYED! There are several different personalities with these animals, some have to have a perfectly clean litter box so they go anywhere they please, some desperately want into a certain room so they will claw at the carpet like they think digging will get them to the other side.

AND THEN the kids see the corner of the carpet is jacked up and decide to add to it!

Finally I had enough and decided to take the plunge and yank the carpet out. Now before you have a virtual heart attack, I did start small. I worked in two small closets first to figure out what I'd like and then an unused spare bedroom.

The reason I'm not jumping into laminate or anything like that is because....I'm a SAHM, my budget has to be as close to zero as possible so I can continue to be a SAHM. Here's my logic, if I paint the concrete it will be a temporary solution to get rid of the carpet and keep to a low budget. We might love it and keep it, we might hate it but either way...carpet had to go!

As I ripped up the spare bedroom carpet I could smell where cats have marked their territory repeatedly, it soaked into the carpet adhesion stick and rusted the nails....so freaking gross!

I don't think I need to go any further as to my WHY. So next post should be HOW...stay tuned!
